"THE LATE PRIVATE W. H. PRETTY.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Pretty, of Kupman street, Kilkenny, have been officially informed that their son, Private W. H. Pretty, was killed in action, in France, on July 20, 1916. He was previously reported missing." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 07 Apr 1917 (nla.gov.au)
"FOUND AFTER 94 YEARS"
The new Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) cemetery was opened in 2010 to house the remains of all the soldiers discovered from the mass grave at Pheasant Wood in which British and Allied soldiers killed in the attack at Fromelles were interred originally by the Germans. Private Walter Pretty was one of the first of the 96 soldiers identified and re-interred in the new cemetery in 2010.
