Clifford Herbert Aubrey Kempson was born in 1888 in Houghton South Australia. His mother who he nominated as his next of kin was Emily Mary Kempson. Before going off to the war he worked as a well-borer.
Clifford Herbert Aubrey Kempson enlisted on the 22nd of February 1916 in Adelaide, South Australia when he was 28 years old. Whilst at war he served in the 11th Field Company Engineers as a Sapper. He embarked on the 31st of May 1916 on board HMAT Suevic.
Kempson was ill for much of his service and spent a significant amount of time in hospital before returning to Australia 1st February 1918, medically unfit. On the 3rd of May 1918 Clifford Herbert Aubrey Kempson was discharged of his service.
He died 23rd March 1942 and is buried at West Terrace Cemetery.
