Longest serving soldier from the district
Lyndon's surname is actually Hornhardt. The T was left off his name until the last few pages of his personnel papers. He signed his name without the T until then but later added the T.
His family had settled in the district prior to WW1. His parents were Olive and William (Oddie) Hornhardt He was husband of Florence and father of Shirley, Murray and Maxine.
Lyndon survived Gallipoli, Egypt and France for well over 4 years. He served 19/8/1914 to 28/3/1919 and is reported to have been the longest serving soldier WW1 from the District of Franklin HArbour.
