Very little is known of James. He was born in April 1883 in Sydney and his Father was James.
He did enlist in Brisbane and was working in Logan Village before he went to Brisbane to enlist.

NOLAN.— The Relatives & Friends of the late Edmund Francis Nolan, known as James Nolan, formerly 25th Batt., 1st A.I.F., are invited to attend his Funeral, to leave the Funeral Parlour, 45 Adelaide St., City, This (Friday) Afternoon, at 3.30 o'clock, for the Lutwyche Cemetery.
