Frederick married in 1917 and enlisted in 1918. He only arrived in England during August 1918. He wasn’t sent to France until early 1919. He was returned to Australia soon after. His two brothers, 1267 Pte Henry Thomas Estoppey, 3rd Pioneer Battalion AIF, died of pneumonia, 8 January 1917 and a half-brother (they had the same mother) 2619 Corporal John Rule Chilton 7th Battalion AIF, was killed in action at Pozieres in 1916.
