George Gladstone Pearce
George Gladstone Pearce was the son of Alfred Benjamin Pearce and Louisa Jane née catterall. His brother was Clement John Pearce who was my grandfather. My grandmother (wife of Clement Pearce) told me the story of the WW1 serviceman who was identified because of a scrap of paper in his pocket that was a letter from his girlfriend in Melbourne. My grandfather told my grandmother not to tell us children the story. I was not aware that my grandfather had a brother killed in WW1 until I looked into my family history.
