Vera was the daughter of William Wilson Mason and Mary Jane Mason nee Gallegos.
Vera enlisted as a Staff Nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service on 10.10.1917 and departed Sydney per 'Malta" on 16.10.1918. Served in Bombay India and returned to Australia per Pilsna' on 8.9.1919. Discharged 23.1.1920. Medal: British War Medal.
In 1923 Vera married Dr. Henry Harold Crowe.
