Private 1113, 1st Battalion, Australian Infantry (AIF). Killed in action at Lone Pine, Gallipoli, Turkey, on Thursday 2nd September 1915 at Gallipoli (Turkey).Aged 31.
His brothers. Captain Gilbert Trenchard Carre and Lieutenant Edward Mervyn Carre were killed in action whilst serving with British forces.
They were the three sons of Florence Carre of 8, Rodney Place, Clifton, Bristol, and the late Rev. Arthur A. Carre (Rector of Smarden, Kent). Amongst their addresses was 11, Grosvenor Rd., East Grinstead, Sussex.
He was originally in the Naval Reserve.
He emigrated to Australia aged 29, circa 1913.
The brothers are commemorated on the Smarden village war memorial in Kent. The war memorial is a plaque fixed to the outside of the church wall (St Michaels Church).
