Arthur Irving Warland, aged 22 when he enlisted was the fifth child of Alfred Augustus Warland and Laura Nowland. Alfred's parents lived in Dayboro in 1905 and are buried in the Dayboro Cemetery. He enlisted on 18 July 1918 at Toowoomba, Arthur began his training for overseas active service on the 1 September 1918. This continued until 7 November 1918 when he and his unit were sent down to Sydney by train to board the troopship SS Carpentaria. They were at sea when the war ended. On returning from the war Arthur lived at Nambour with his parents. Arthur married Isabella Florence Stark in 1932.
