17 Jun 1919: Honoured Military Medal, Mont St Quentin / Peronne, For bravery and devotion to duty at Mont St Quentin on 31 August 1918, despite being wounded in the hand he refused to hand over his gun until the pain from his wound forced him to do so. However he refused to retire, and went forward with his crew directing their work. Later he single-handedly rushed an enemy post killing two with his revolver which caused the remianing four to surrender.
