In Memory Of Lance Corporal Leonard Matthew Henderson MM. 12th Light Trench Mortar Battery (LTMB).
He was a selector from Boongoondoo, Jericho, Queensland prior to enlistment.
Corporal Henderson embarked with the rank of Private with the 11th Reinforcements, 15th Battalion from Brisbane on HMAT Seang Bee on the 21st of October 1915.
Later transferring to the 47th Battalion, he was promoted to Lance Corporal and was awarded the Military Medal for his actions at Messines whilst under heavy fire.
Following his transfer to 12th LTMB he was killed in action on the 5th of April 1918 and buried alongside others who were killed in the same action.

In Memory Of Lance Corporal Leonard Matthew Henderson MM. 12th Light Trench Mortar Battery (LTMB).
He was a selector from Boongoondoo, Jericho, Queensland prior to enlistment.

Following the Armistice, their remains were exhumed and re-interred in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
As Lance Corporal Henderson's remains could not be positively identified, he was reburied as an unknown Australian soldier. His regimental details were placed on a special cross with the words "Believed to be buried in the Cemetery, actual grave unknow.
