F. W. G. ANDERSON enlisted on 9th October and embarked from Australia on 22nd December 1916 as Lieutenant in 2nd Australian Auxiliary Mech. Transport Company.
He arrived in France on 9th August 1917, and on 13th September was transferred to No. 5 Australian Ammunition Subpark. Transferred to and put in command of the 6th Army Brigade Australian Field Artillery Park Section on 16th December 1917. On
9th October 1918 transferred to and put Second in Command of No. 4 Australian Mech. Transport Co. On 5th March 1919 transferred to Australian Mechanical Transport Services as Officer Commanding A.I.F. Depots in United Kingdom, and on 13th March 1919 was promoted to Captain as from 11th September 1918.
He took part in all actions of the 1st Australian and New Zealand Army Corps from the time of his arrival in France up till the formation of, and then with, the Australian Corps.
He returned to Australia on 25th April and his appointment was
terminated in June 1920.
