World War One
Louis Wendell Tamblyn served in WW1. He was shot during a push and lay there for 5 hours, in no mans land, with a shot, shattered lower leg. He stayed down and waited til they collected the dead to avoid the german snipers. He spent two years in hospital to save his leg, and was awarded medals and certificate from King George V. He is survived by six great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
