As recorded by the Lachlander and Condobolin and Western Districts Recorder on 16 June 1915 ('A Condobolin Hero of the Dardanelles.'), Will was the only son of drover Warburton Grey Innes of Condobolin, and grandson of the Honorable Frederick Maitland Innes who served for 26 years was a Member of the Tasmanian Parliament.
