Son of William Urquhart and Mary A. Urquhart of Harris Street, Pyrmont, NSW.

Brother of Albert Urquhart whose was killed in action on 30 April 1917 and was buried in the Vraucourt Corpse Cemetery, Plot 11, Row B, Grave 9, Hector Urquhart who was killed in action on 22 August 1915 and has no known grave, his name appears on Lone Pine Memorial, Panel 39; Edward Urquhart who died of pneumonia on 4 January 1917 and was buried in the Tidworth Military Cemetery, Row C, Grave 243 having served with the 17th Battalion and Norman Urquhart who returned to Australia on 14 May 1916 having served with the 13th Battalion

Husband of Ethel May Urquhart nee Horne of Bathurst Street, Sydney, NSW. Leslie and Ethel married during 1910c in Woollahra, NSW.

3 February 1915 - enlisted at Liverpool, NSW, with the 17th Battalion and with the rank of Private.

1 August 1917 - promoted to Lance Corporal

9 October 1917 - wounded in action. Wound to the back embarking HS Queen Elizabeth for England on 16 October 1917

15 May 1918 - promoted to Corporal

18 December 1918 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Aenaes disembaking on 11 February 1919

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

18 September 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District as medically unfit
