Biography

Son of Edward EDWARDS and Mary nee DAVIES

Husband of Mrs Ethel Jane EDWARDS nee PEACHEY, Albion Street, Warwick, Queensland

The death occurred in the Kingaroy District Hospital early yesterday morning of Edward Edwards, at the age of 57 years.

He was well-known around Kingaroy, coming here at the conclusion of the Great War, in which he served, being severely gased several times. For many years he had been a member of the Kingaroy-Memerambi-Kumbia sub-branch of the R.S.S.I.L.A., and the flag was flown at halfmast at the clubroom today. In addition, the coffin was draped with the Union Jack, and officials and members of the sub-branch marched beside the hearse through the streets to pay their last respect to another Digger who had gone to join The Fallen.

His wife predeceased him, and he is survived by two daughters, Mesdames J. Law (Toowoomba), and Lamb (Warwick). His aged mother, Mrs. A. Jones, resides in Nanango, and  two sisters  Mesdames. A. Haverfield (Melbourne). H. Heiner (Kingaroy) and two brothers. Messrs. Thomas (Oakey Creek) and Jack (Goomeri) also survive him.

The funeral moved from the Salvation Army Hall to the Taabinga Village Cemetery at 4 o'clock this afternoon.
Captain Leonard officiated.
The arrangements for the funeral were conducted by Mr. Chas. Smith.
