Frank Arthur Reynold Addams was born on the 18th of March 1898 near Parkside in South Australia. His parents were Edward Adams and Alvena Adams. Before enlistment Adams was an engineer apprentice. He enlisted on 5th January 1916 at the age of 18 years. He had a fair complexion blue eyes and brown hair his address was Malvern South Australia.

Having already served in the military for 3 years with the 74 Battalion (aka senior cadets) he enlisted as a Private in Adelaide on 5 January 1916 and was appointed to the 32nd Battalion 4th Reinforcement. On 9 March 1916, he departed from Adelaide South Australia, bound for Egypt, sailing on RMS Mongolia, which docked a further 30 days later. He was then taken on strength by the 48th Battalion on 19 April 1916.

Adams embarked from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force on 2 June 1916 and disembarked in Marseilles France, on 9 June 1916. he was attached for duty to the 12th brigade workshop on 31 July 1916. He was admitted to the 3rd Field Ambulance on 22 August 1916 due to influenza and after several transfers, he rejoined the 48th Battalion in the field on 19 November 1916.

Adams was hospitalized several times during his tour for influenza bronchitis pyrexia chancroid and venereal (a disease that last kept him in the hospital for 50 days). He went on serving however, being detached as a fettler to the Australian Light Railway company on 27 December 1916, and he rejoined the 48th Battalion on 14 May 1917.

On 17 July 1917 Adams was found guilty of being AWOL (away without leave) from 6:30 am on 15 July to noon on 17 July 1917 and was awarded a forfeiture of 5 days' pay, total forfeiture of 7 days pay.

Adams was detached to the 12th brigade headquarters on 6 August 1918 and went on leave to the United Kingdom from 17 September to 3 October 1918. He marched out to England to return to Australia on 21 April 1919. He was granted leave with pay and subsistence from 16 June to 16 August 1919 for military employment attending Victoria Cinema College in London.

Admitted to Fovant Military Hospital in November 1919 with pleurisy he was discharged in January 1920 and entitled to leave until the 13th of January 1920. On the 22nd of January 1920, he embarked on HT 'friedrichsruh' for his return journey to Australia disembarking in Fremantle on the 28th of February 1920.

Adams was discharged on 29th April 1920. He married Louie Adams and had a daughter named Joyce Adams. Frank Arthur Reynold Addams died tragically young at age 27 on the 25th November 1925 buried AIF cemetery (Row 8 East, Grave 7) West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide South Australia.
