He was born in 1891 at Eaglehawk, Bendigo Vic to parents James Knuckeyt and Mary Ann Thorpe. Enlisted 2nd April 1917 number 3308 he was a gunner attached to 7th Battln 3rd Army, returning to Australia on 12th December 1918. He married Violet Letitia Redfern in 1915. He died in 1977 at Boxhill Vic. He was a Blacksmith Striker. They lived at 10 Mayston Street, Hawthorn East Vic in 1941.
