Son of Henry Hese and Ernestine Hese nee Tothek of Caloote, SA. Brother of Wilhelm Hese who returned to Australia on 28 November 1917 having served with the 12th Battalion and 1st Pioneer Bttalion
Commened return to Australia on 20 December 1918 due to ship being recalled
