Son of Daniel Quinn and Margaret Quinn nee McGrath of Victoria Street, Ballarat East, Victoria. Brother of John Gerard Quinn who returned to Australia on 10 September 1917 having served with the 39th and 8th  Battalions

Commenced return to Australia on 30 January 1918 aboard HT Euripidies disembarking on 23 March 1918
