"THE LATE PRIVATE SHORT.
Mr. S. G. Short, Russell-street, Yatala, has been notified that his only son, Private C. E. Short, died at the Third Canadian Casualty Clearing Station from shock, resulting from a compound fracture of both legs on October 1. Private Short was born at Birkenhead, and educated at the Port Adelaide Public School. He was 21 years of age in March, and was much respected." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 28 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
