Negus Edward BROWN was born in Cooma, New South Wales on 1st February, 1882

His parents were Negus BROWN & Isabella McDONALD who married in St Pauls Church in Cooma, NSW on 25th September, 1878

He married Emily Adeline FOSTER in Cooma in 1915 - one known daughter Kathleen born 1916 Cooma

He enlisted in Goulburn on 3rd October, 1915 and embarked from Sydney on the HMAT Ceramic on 13th April, 1916 with the 1st Infantry Battalion, 17th reinforcements - he was transferred to the 53rd Infantry Battalion on 30th September, 1916

Negus was Killed in Action in France on 3rd April, 1917 - no known grave - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
