Darcy Wilmot Driscoll
Son of Thomas and Henrietta Driscoll of Recherche Bay, Tasmania
Darcy Wilmot Driscoll (service number 1028) landed at Anzac Cove at 8.30 pm on 25th April, 1915 from the troopship "Australand", via destroyer and life boat. He was wounded in this battle. In April of 1917 he was on the western front and participated in the battles at the Somme, Mouquet Farm, and Pozieres. Corporal Driscoll of the 15th Battalion was wounded by gunshot to the right knee and left calf - he was repatriated to the U.K.
From 1919-1923 he sat for 5 merchant officer exams, and became a Master of Foreign-Going ships in 1923.
