Walter's birthdate and family details are not known. He listed Emily Howton as his mother upon elistment but it is likely he was a ward of the State. Was 19 years old at the time of enlistment. No family has been found. Lived in Pyramid Hill after the war. Possibly died in Melbourne in 1968 with ashes scattered at Fawkner Cemetary, however I can't confirm this.
