Born 17 March 1874 in Adelaide, South Australia
(SA Birth Record 1842 - 1906 Book: 132 Page: 492 District: Ade.)

Father  James WALLER and Mother Johanna Waller (nee BOURKE)
living at 8 Augusta Street, Maylands, SA,
mother later moved to 254 Glen Osmond Road, Frewville, SA.

Described on enlisting as 38 years old; single; 6' 3" tall; 184 lbs; fair complexion;
blue eyes; light hair; Roman Catholic.

21/1/1915       enlisted at Oaklands, South Australia

21/1/1915       Commanding Officer appointed George to A Company, Base Infantry,
                      Oaklands Camp

16/3/1915       transferred to 27th Battalion, Oaklands

The 27th Battalion was raised in South Australia in March 1915, from recruits previously earmarked for the 24th Battalion, a large number of whom hailed from the suburbs of Adelaide.

31/5/1915       embarked from Outer Harbour, Port Adelaide, on board HMAT A2 Geelong
                      as a Private with B Company, 27th Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Brigade

The battalion left Australia in June, and, had two months spent training in Egypt.

7/9/1915         temporarily attached to No. Australian General Hospital

12/9/1915       the 27th Battalion landed at Gallipoli

The 27th had a relatively quiet time at Gallipoli and the battalion departed the peninsula in December, having suffered only light casualties.

21/1/1916       admitted to hospital in Ghezireh,  with Dyspepsia
14/2/1916       discharged from hospital

28/2/1916       Gastritis - admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital
16/3/1916       discharged from hospital

28/3/1916       Hammer toes - admitted to 3rd Auxillary Hospital, Heliopolis
16/4/1916       discharged to duty, ex British Red Cross Hospital

10/6/1916       embarked on board HMAT A50 Itonus, ex Suez, Egypt for return to Australia
