Samuel William (Will) Bright was born in 1900 in Thorpdale, Victoria. He was schooled at Brunswick State school and started work as a labourer prior to enlisting in the AIF on 8/7/1916. He gave his age as 18 1/2 but was only 15years old.He left Australia on 2/10/1916 and was allotted to the 57th Battalion. He was killed in action on 26/3/1917 near Bapaume. He has no known grave.
At the time of his death he was 16 1/2 years old.
His NOK was his mother, Bertha Bright of 178 Lygon Street Brunswick. His father had died prior to 1916.
He was 5ft 6in tall, Brown eyes and Auburn hair.
