On the 19th August 1950, Private Thomas Murnane, 35th Battalion (Reg No-842), colliery onsetter from Main Street, Minmi, New South Wales and Weston, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Kurri Kurri General Cemetery, N.S.W., RC, age 66 years 7 months.

Tom enlisted on the 8th December 1915, age 30 years 11 months, at West Maitland, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A24 Benalla on the 1st May 1916.

Disembarked Plymouth, England 9.7.1916.

Proceeded O/Seas to France from Southampton, England 21.11.1916.

Admitted to hospital 11.2.1917 (scabies).

Granted leave to England from 10.12.1917 to 24.12.1917.

Wounded in action - 4.4.1918 (GSW chest, severe).
Invalided to England 9.4.1918.

Commenced return to Australia 24.8.1918.

Tom arrived home invalided on the 9th October 1918, being discharged medically unfit on the 16th November 1918.

Not officially commemorated.

I would like to see poppies placed at Tom’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
