On 30 August 1918 he disembarked HT Gaika at Durban for hospital suffering from meningitis being discharged on 18 November 1918
Commenced return to Australia from Durban on 26 November 1918 aboard HT Durham disembarking on 23 December 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Tasmania
