Nellie was the daughter of John Evans Lane and Sarah Ann Lane nee Walters.
Nellie enlisted as a Staff Nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service on 6.7.1918 and embarked per 'Wiltshire' from Sydney on 9.11.1918. Service in India and was Invalided to Australia on 17.11.1919 per "Charon". Medical Discharge 26.3.1920.
Married Arthur Fawkner Lovett on 19.1.1922 in Tasmania.
