George William Carpenter.
CARPENTER, George William. Trooper, No. 2251, 15th Rfts. 5th Light Horse. Born at Congarth Farm, Somerset, in 1893, and educated at the National School, Chapmanslade, England. Son of William James and Elizabeth Esther Pearce Carpenter, of Pullborough Farm, Sussex, England. Was married on the 5th May, 1917, to Agnes King, daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes King. Enlisted at Brisbane, on 5th November, 1915, and sailed for Egypt on 11th March, landing at Port Said on 15th April, and went to Tel el-Kebir for training. Was invalided to Australia in August, 1916, and was discharged medically unfit. He then went as a war-worker in July, 1917, and returned on 3rd October, 1918, again medically unfit.
