29 Aug 1918: Honoured Military Medal, ‘On 23 April 1918 the town of Aubigny [Somme, France] was subject to hostile gas bombardment. The 5th Australian Division Advanced Dressing Station in the town received a share of this. Corporal C G Court, a motor driver, remained at his post during the shelling, beside his car, till a wounded patient, who had been dressed, was carried to his car for evacuation to the Main Dressing Station. One shell struck a hind wheel of his car, disabling it. He at once placed another wheel in position on the car, drove his car and patient clear of the town, and awaited other casualties which he took along to the Main Dressing Station at Daours. His prompt action and courage in changing his damaged wheel under fire saved his car for immediate usefulness (and it was greatly needed afterwards) and enabled him there and then to evacuate a full load of patients. At all times he has shown that his patients are his first care.’ London Gazette, Fifth Supplement, No. 30873, 29 August 1918
