Reginald Arthur Neville Plant

At the outbreak of the First World War, he was an overseer of a sheep station outside of Cairns, Queensland.

Reginald Plant is an Anzac who served in World War One.
As did his two younger brothers, Reginald served in the Australian Imperial Force during the First World War. Harold, a medical officer, was killed in action. He was posted as a Trooper to the 5th Light Horse Regiment, 2nd Light Horse Brigade; later earning promotions to Corporal and Sergeant and then a commission as a Lieutenant and later a Captain. The regiment embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A34 Persic on 21st December 1914. The 5th Light Horse landed at Gallipoli, without their horses, in late May 1915 and left the peninsula on 20th December 1915. Back in Egypt, the 2nd Light Horse Brigade became part of the ANZAC Mounted Division and in February 1916 joined the forces defending the Suez Canal from a Turkish advance across the Sinai Desert. The 5th Light Horse's main activity in the Sinai was long-range patrolling. The ANZAC Mounted Division advanced into Palestine in late December 1916. The 5th Light Horse was employed to assist in putting down the Egyptian revolt of early 1919. Reginald returned to Australia 11th November 1919.

He passed away, aged 53 years, in 1937 at Brisbane, Queensland, and is buried in the Brisbane General Cemetery, Toowong, Queensland
