Died on this date - 12th November......Private Charles Edward Lilley was born near Narrandera NSW in 1883. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 18th January, 1916 as a 32 year old, Labourer from Tumut, NSW.

Private Lilley joined 56th Battalion in France on 26th July, 1916. He was sent to Hospital several times with Bronchitis then Mumps then a sprained back. He was invalided to England in March, 1917 & joined No. 3 Command Depot at Hurdcott, Wiltshire in October, 1917.
Private Lilley rejoined his Battalion on 17th February, 1918. He was wounded in action on 1st September, 1918 & invalided to England. He recovered & reported to No. 1 Command Depot at Sutton Veny, Wiltshire on 25th October, 1918.

Private Lilley was sent to Hospital on 5th November, 1918 with Influenza (Bronchitis). He was reported as seriously ill on 7th November, 1918 with Influenza (Pneumonia) & died at 22.10 hours on 12th November, 1918 at the Military Hospital, Sutton Veny of Influenza Pneumonia.
