Robert Thomas NAUGHTON was born during 1891 in Sunbury, Victoria and was educated at the Sunbury State School.
His family moved to Brunswick and Robert was working as a painter and decorator when he enlisted in the AIF on 11/9/1914 at Melbourne.
His next of kin was his father, J. Naughton of 196 Union Street West Brunswick.
Robert was 5ft 10in tall, 12 stone weight and had grey eyes and fair hair.
Robert left Australia aboard the HMAT Armadale on 20/10/1914.
He served on Gallipoli with the ASC, was promoted Corporal on 13/5/1916 and arrived in France on 16/6/1916.
In the UK, on 16/4/1918 Robert married Miss F Mears of Wimbleton, London.
Robert returned to Australia on 20/10/1918 and was discharged on 16/2/1919.
In 1942 Robert was living at 36 Mattingley Crescent, West Brunswick.
