Father Joseph DAVEY and  Mother Mary Jane Davey (nee MATTHIESSEN),
living at Seventh Street, Port Pirie West, South Australia.

He last lived at 50 Albert Street, Goodwood, South Australia prior to embarking.

Described on enlisting as 26 years old; single; 5' 10" tall; 154 lbs;
fresh complexion; blue eyes; brown hair; Church of England.

19/8/1914      Enlisted at Morphettville Racecourse, South Australia

30/8/1914      Commanding Officer appointed Albert to H Company
                     10th Infantry Battalion

20/10/1914    Embarked from Outer Harbour, Port Adelaide on board HMAT A11 Ascanius
                     as a Private in the 10th Infantry Battalion, H Company

2/3/1915        Embarked on board Ionian to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force
                     Gallipoli

7/5/1915        taken on strength from 3rd reinforcements, into 10th Infanty Battalion
                      as a Driver

19/5/1915      Killed in action at the Dardanelles, GALLIPOLI
buried in:       Divisional Cemetery, Shrapnel Gully
                     (with his comrades who had fallen on the 19/5/1915)
                     in a small unit plot illustrated in the main photograph. 
buried by:      Chaplain J C McPhee

later his remains were exhumed and reburied in:
                     Shrapnel Valley Cemetery, Gallipoli, just off the Anzac Cove.
