Biography contributed by Sharyn Roberts

Son of Charles and Isabella ROUND

PERCY FLORENCE ROUND who was killed in action on 4th October 1917 in France was the son of Mr. Charles H. Round. He was born in 1891 and was at the School from 1905 to 1908, and on matriculating left School and was a Law student when
he enlisted in the 5th Battalion and served through the dreadful Somme battles.

In his last letters he mentioned taking part in successful engagements on 20th and 29th September. On 4th October he was engaged on a machine gun outpost in an advanced part of the line when a shell burst and killed himself and four others. After the battle (Broodseinde) their bodies were taken back about half a mile and
buried at Garter Post.
