James SCOTT was born in Illawa, Warrnambool, Victoria in 1881

His parents were Samuel SCOTT & Sarah McLEAN

He enlisted on 3rd May, 1917 and embarked with the 60th Infantry Battalion, 9th reinforcements on 16th July, 1917 from Sydney on the ship Port Melbourne - he was severely wounded due to enemy machine gun fire on 26th April, 1918 and returned to Australia on the ship Suevic on 20th November, 1918 dis-embarking at Melbourne on 3rd January, 1919

James was admitted to the McLeod Military Hospital in Victoria where he died from Tetanus on 14th March, 1920 - he is buried in the Springvale Cemetery in Victoria and his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
