Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
There were four men from Moama named Milgate who died with the AIF during WW1. They were all first cousins, two pairs of brothers.
Albert Ernest Milgate died near Bullecourt, he has an extensive Red Cross Wounded and Missing file, most of which confirms that he was literally obliterated by a heavy shell. His brother, Sergeant Frederick Milgate was a born soldier, promoted to Sergeant in the 7th Battalion and four times recommended for bravery. Frederick was killed in action on the 9 August 1918, aged 29.
Another brother, Samuel Arthur Milgate 57th Battalion, was wounded in 1918 and returned to Australia in early 1919. They were all the sons of George and Rosetta Milgate, of Moama, New South Wales.
