Distinguished Conduct Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in charge of the right mopping up party in a raid. He led the attack on an enemy machine gun, which was destroyed and the personnel of the team killed. At the end of the raid he got his wounded officer and his team safely back to the lines. He showed fine courage and leadership.'
