JOHN FARQUHAR GELLION who was killed in action in France on 3rd April 1917 was the son of the late Mr. John Gellion of Alberton. He was born in 1888 and came to us from Geelong Grammar School in 1907. He was well known as an athlete. On leaving School he went to the country and was a grazier at Coree, West Alberton. He enlisted in the 13th Light Horse on 8th July and embarked on 10th September 1915. He took part in the Tripoli Campaign and on 27th March 1916 went to France. He transferred to 4th A.F.A. Brigade on 19th July 1916 and took part in the actions of that brigade in France until his death in action.
He was buried at Vaulx Hill British Cemetery, north-east of Bapaume.

He enlisted on 8th July 1915 S/N 846 with the 13th Light Horse Regiment
Unit embarked on 10th September 1915 from Melbourne on the HMAT Malakuta
He became a gunner in the 4th Field Artillery Brigade
In 1915 John married Mary Crawford BODMAN

He was killed in action (died of wounds) on 3rd April, 1917 in Vaulx Vraucourt Bullecourt France
buried Vaux Hill Cemetery in France
