Marriage and Death of Rita AHERN (now McCARTHY)
Nurse and Doctor to Wed
Sister Rita Ahern, a trainee of St Vincent's Hospital, who was on active Service attached to No. 2 Unit, Salonika, will be married early next month to Captain Justin McCarthy, R.A.M.C, son of Mr. W.H. McCarthy, of Wolstonecraft. Nurse Ahern is the daughter of Mrs. Davies, of Roslyn Gardens, and the late Mr. P. Ahern, of Inverell. Just prior to returning to Australia she was nursing the troops smitten with influenza in Egypt. Sister Ahern and Dr. McCarthy met while both were engaged ministering to the wounds of our gallant soldiers.

DEATH OF MRS. F. J. MCCARTHY
Mrs. Rita Fidelis McCarthy, wife of Dr. F. J. McCarthy, of 35 Montague Street, Goulburn, died at St John of God Hospital early on Saturday morning at the age of 48 years. She had been in failing health for about two years. A native of Inverell, Mrs. McCarthy was held in high regard in Goulburn, and the news of her death, brought sincere regret to her many friends. Coming to Goulburn with her husband about seven years ago, Mrs. McCarthy soon gained a host of friends, her cheery disposition and kind nature being well known. She formerly resided at Dubbo and other centres in the State. A fully qualified nurse, Mrs. McCarthy served with the A.I.F. overseas in the last war. Besides her husband, she is survived by five children, William, June, Robert, Justin and John, all of whom live in Goulburn.
