Biography

Arrived in Australia aged 23 years

Taken on strength, 1st Bn, Gallipoli, 5 August 1915.

4 October 1915 - Admitted to 1st Field Ambulance (pyrexia); transferred same day to No 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, Mudros;

12 October 1915 - Discharged to duty, and rejoined Btn

28 December 1915 - Disembarked Alexandria (general Gallipoli evacuation).

4 January 1916 - Admitted to No 2 Australian General Hospital, Ghezireh (gastritis);

7 January 1916 - Transferred to Convalescent Camp, Ral el Tin (jaundice);

3 February 1916 - Rejoined Bn, Tel el Kebir

12 March 1916 - Appointed Lance Corporal

22 March 1916 - Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force

28 March 1916 - Disembarked Marseilles, France

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Also served in the Garrison Artillery, Montrose, Scotland
