ROBERTSON Gordon Ochiltree

Captain (1892 -1950 ) M.B. B.S. Melb. 1916 - ROBERTSON was born in Goroke, Victoria, son of a wealthy pastoralist Francis Robert Gordon ROBERTSON and wife Emma OCHILTREE.
He took his Medical Degree in Melbourne and volunteered for the A.I.F. in March, 1917. He embarked from Melbourne in May, 1917 and reached Portsmouth in July. He spent the next three months at the A.A.M.C. Training Depot at Parkhouse and as senior medical officer of 4 TRG GP at Codford.
He was sent to France in October , 1917 and posted to 3 AGH. He served in France, was characterised by short detachments to other Units.
The first was in November when he was sent to 2SH for several weeks in February 1918 he was posted supernumery to 15 Field Ambulance and within 5 Division was attached serially to 53 Battalion, 56 Battalion, 30th and 54th Battalions.
In June he was formally posted as RMO of 57th Battalion and served with the
battalion until April, 1919 at which time he returned to 15 FD AMD
Robertson returned to Australia in May, 1919
He set up his practice in Gundagai, NSW and in 1922 was appointed General Medical Officer for the area. He also became a grazier like his Father
His two sons Douglas Gordon & Francis Gordon served in the Royal Australian Navy in WW2 in HMAS Lonsdale.

Gordon Ochiltree ROBERTSON as born on 8th October, 1892 in Goroke, Victoria

His parents were Francis Robert Gordon ROBERTSON and Emma OCHILTREE

Gordon married Eva Mary MORRISON on 30th February 1917 in Victoria

He enlisted on 7th March, 1917  as  Medical Officer with the Australian Army Medical Corps - Unit embarked Melbourne on 11th May, 1916 on HMAT Shropshire

He Returned to Australia on 3rd May 1919 and was discharged on 21st July, 1919 - He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal

His brother Lieut. Geoffrey Ochiltree ROBERTSON (/explore/people/125094) also served and died of wounds in Egypt on 13th August, 1916
