Arrived in Melbourne 1914 aged 20 years with the plans of later travelling to Perth, WA to join his sister

Son of Joseph and Mary Carne of 16 Alberton Buildings, Penzance, Cornwall, England

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Served in the Territorial Forces for 4 years

Second son of of John and Mary Carne of 16 Alverne Buildings, Penzance. Emigrated to Australia in 1914 and enlisted in Melbourne where he had been engaged in agriculture.

Previously he was a messenger boy for the Penzance Post Office, a drummer in the Territorial Bugle Band and also in the Boys’ Brigade.

He is honoured on The Penzance Roll of Honour located in the small chapel in Penlee Memorial Garden.

He is remembered on the  St. Mary’s Church War Memorial, on the  Penzance War Memorial and in the Penzance Book of Remembrance. There  was a family memorial plaque in the United Methodist Church in Parade Street (now the Acorn Theatre) but its present whereabouts are unknown.
