Son of James and Christina Kerr, Luggie Brae, McIlwraith Street, Auchenflower, Brisbane, Queensland
Husband of Iris Lorna KERR nee RUDD
Embarked for France for active service and after some time spent in hopital, possbily from Mustard Gas, he spent most of the next two years as a driver in the 4th Division Motor Transport Company. From April to July 1919 Jim was granted an allowance to attend a wool technology course at Galashiels Technical College, where he enjoyed the hospitality of the local people.
He returned to Australia 6 September 1919 and was discharged 09 December 1919.
On returning he went to Elderslie Station owned by Charles Brabazon where he met Iris Rudd. In 1921 they married and later purchased Hampden Downs, leasehold block west of Kynuna previously owned by J. Gaden & Sons. They lived there with their three surviving children through some good years and frequent droughts, until the propery was sold after WW2.
They later lived in south east Queensland and Brisbane.
