War Service/Promotions:   Before leaving for overseas, Aubrey was deployed as an Administrative officer, Invalids Section, Victoria Barracks, Sydney. He was disembarked at Plymouth, Devon, England, 11 November 1916. Proceeded to France from, England, per SS Princess Henrietta, 8 January 1917. Marched in to Etaples, France, 9 January 1917, and transferred to 1st Divisional Ammunition Column (D.A.C.), Etaples, 4 February 1917, ex 116th Howitzer Battery from Australian General Base Depot & posted to No 1 Section. On 7 February 1917 he transferred to 1st Field Artillery Brigade from 1st D.A.C. AIF. Taken on Strength 2nd Aust. Casualty Clearing Station on marching out to Cadet School, Australian Flying Corps. On 28 February 1918 attached to Australian Army Pay Corps for duty with paymaster AIF Aust. Corps. Headquarters. Taken on Strength 25 April 1918 to A.A.P.C. London, England. Promoted to ER/Corporal in England 20 May 1918. Promoted to ER/Staff Sergeant Pay Corps, London, on 23 September 1918. Appointed Acting Warrant Officer Class 1, London, on 1 October 1918. Brought to the notice of Secretary of State for War for valuable services rendered in connection with the War (War Office Comminque (sic), 28 August 1919.

Fate:   Returned to Australia per Czaritza, from England, 15 March 1919, transhipped at Alexandria, Egypt, to SS Dunluce Castle, on 7 April 1919, disembarking 18 May 1919. He never married.
