Biography contributed by John Edwards

"News has been received that Trooper Philip C. de Crespigny was killed in action on July 14. Trooper de Crespigny was for some time a member of the literary staff of the "Worker" and the "Daily Mail." He was hon. secretary of the Queensland branch of the Australian Journalists' Association, of which he was one of the foundation members. Prior to coming to Brisbane he was attached to the staff of the Melbourne "Age," Hobart "Post," and other Southern papers. De Crespigny was a very versatile and competent journalist, and his death is deeply regretted by a very wide circle. He enlisted in Brisbane early this year, and was attached too the Light Horse. He leaves a widow and four children." - from the Brisbane Worker 01 Aug 1918 (nla.gov.au)
