Served during The Great War, resting at Minmi Cemetery.
On the Sunday afternoon of the 25th January 1931, Private Harold Edward Brown, 35th Battalion (Reg No-2540), boiler fireman from First Street, Boolaroo, New South Wales and Maitland Road, Minmi, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Minmi Cemetery, age 34 years 2 months. Left Hand Side, Section 06, Plot 016.
Born at Minmi, New South Wales on the 18th November 1896 to Charles Edward, died 6.1.1935, Minmi, N.S.W., age 82, buried at Left Hand Side, Section 05, Plot 008, from Main Street (Purple Hill), Minmi, New South Wales and Church Street, Minmi, N.S.W. (1919), and Isabella Brown nee Hunter, died 13.7.1927, Minmi, N.S.W., age 69, mother of 4?, sleeping at Left Hand Side, Section 05, Plot 008, from Main Street (Purple Hill), Minmi, New South Wales and Church Street, Minmi, N.S.W. (1919); husband of Florence May Brown nee Rundle, married 1922, West Wallsend, N.S.W., re-married to Norman Edmond Frederick Cramp 1939, Newcastle, N.S.W., Norman died 20.12.1968, Minmi, N.S.W., age 75, ashes interred Newcastle Memorial Park, Florence died 8.9.1988, Newcastle, N.S.W., age 88, sleeping with Harold - Left Hand Side, Section 06, Plot 016.
Harold enlisted on the 19th August 1916, age 19 years 9 months, at Newcastle, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on the 25th October 1916.
Disembarked Devonport, England 28.12.1916.
Commenced return to Australia 4.5.1917.
Harold arrived home on the 4th July 1917, being discharged medically unfit (asthma) on the 31st July 1917. Permanently unfit for military service.
Did not serve in a theatre of war, therefore was not granted Victory Medal.
Mr. Brown’s name has been inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour and the Minmi St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour. Name not inscribed on the Boolaroo District Pictorial Roll of Honour.
I have placed poppies at Harold’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.

(boarded with his brother Harold), enlisted 23.5.1916, 1st Australian Pioneer Battalion, age 26 years, at Newcastle, N.S.W., Reg No-3073, unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A30 Borda on the 17th October 1916, RTA 20.8.1919, 30th Battalion, died from injuries at Stockton Borehole Colliery about 5.30 p.m. at Wallsend Hospital, N.S.W. on the 21.8.1920, age 30 years 3 months, resting at Left Hand Side, Section 05, Plot 008, not officially commemorated.
