KEVIN JOHN CONNOLLY, the son of Peter Joseph and Mary Connolly, of Barter Street, Gympie, was born at Gympie, Queensland, on 8th September, 1890. He was educated at the Christian Brothers’ School, Gympie.

On 20th April, 1908, he joined the Bank at Gympie; was appointed ledger-keeper on 1st July, 1911, and transferred to Ipswich as teller on 15th January, 1913.

Kevin Connolly enlisted on 4th September, 1914, as trooper in the 2nd Light Horse, and was promoted to sergeant in January, 1917. He served in Egypt until May, 1915, and then at Gallipoli until August. He was in hospital on two or three occasions after leaving Gallipoli, and in intervals served on the A.I.F. Headquarters Staff until discharged as medically unfit in April, 1918.
