Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

MAJOR E. WINDEYER.
Major Windeyer (7th A.L.H.) has been admitted to No 19 General Hospital at Alexandria, suffering from prostration. It has been known for some time that owing to the illness and consequent absence of Lieut -Colonel Arnott and Major G. Onslow, his two senior officers, and the absence owing to casualties or illness from time to time of nearly every one of his own subordinate officers, Major Windeyer, who has been in the trenches at Anzac from June 2, was having a very strenuous time, and required a rest, but this apparently could not be obtained until last week, after Major Onslow and Captain Richardson had returned to the regiment. Later private cables show that Major Windeyer has recovered, and gone to Cairo for a few days' rest before returning to the front. Major Windeyer, is the youngest son of the late Sir William Windeyer. Letters received from Colonel Arnott and others speak in high terms of Major Windeyers work in Egypt and Gallipoli. Major Windeyer is in private life an
auctioneer and estate agent, and a director of the firm of Windeyer, O'Mara, Ltd.
